INITIAL PREPARATIONS
Fit seat cover and floor mat
Note customer comments/additional work requests
Check vehicle details are complete and correct
INSIDE THE VEHICLE
Check the operation of switches, gauges, warning lights, dash lights and horn
Check the operation of the clutch, and adjust if necessary (where applicable)
Check the operation of washers and wipers, adjust if necessary
Check hand brake operation (adjust where applicable)
Reset service interval indicator (where applicable)
Check the operation and condition of seat belts
OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE
Check operation of door check straps, lubricate if necessary
Check/lubricate door and bonnet hinge
Check tyre condition & pressures (inc spare) & record tread depths
UNDER THE BONNET
Check the operation of the engine compartment lamp (where applicable)
Check all visible wiring, pipes & hoses for routing, damage, chafing & leaks
Check the engine, vacuum pump, heater and radiator for damage and leaks
Check spark plugs (replace if necessary at extra cost)
Check the condition of the auxiliary drive belts
Check & record the antifreeze concentration percentage in the coolant
Check/top up coolant, power steering, washers, brake fluid and battery fluid levels as necessary
Check & record alternator charge rate & battery drop test results
Check pollen filter (where applicable) – renew if necessary (at extra cost)
Check the air filter – renew if necessary (at extra cost)
UNDER THE VEHICLE
Drain engine oil and renew the oil filter
Check steering & suspension linkages and ball joints plus drive shaft joints & gaiters for damage, wear, security and rubber deterioration.
Check/top up gearbox & axle oil levels + check for damage and leaks
Check pipes, hoses, oil and fuel feed lines & exhaust for routing, damage, chafing and leaks (where visible)
Check the general condition of the underbody
BRAKES
With wheels/drums off, check brake pads, discs and linings, and check brake cylinders & drums for the condition; check rubber components for deterioration
Check braking efficiency on a rolling road and record the results
OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE
Inspect for bodywork and paint damage
Check the operation of all lights + check the headlamp beam pattern and aim
Check the operation of the luggage compartment lamp (where applicable)
Tighten wheel nuts to correct torque
ROAD TEST
Carry out a road test, and check for the correct function of all vehicle systems
FINALLY
Remove seat covers and floor mats, re-check oil and coolant levels, check/clean greasy marks from bodywork, stamp service book, complete service sheet and job card
